““Action is movement with intelligence. The world is filled with movement. What the world needs is more conscious movement, more action.””
How much do we know about how we hurt? Why? This immersion is where we give intelligence to action. We ask. We explore. We rebuild. There is no magic cure in addressing what hurts, but we are dedicating these few pressure hours to listening in to what our bodies and minds are trying to tell us.
Yoga for Rehab and Wellness | Where to Start?
This immersion is for students looking for techniques to alleviate discomfort. This is also for yoga teachers looking for skills to better understand your students’ experience and techniques that make the practice more accessible and more purposeful.
Session I | Yoga for Knee + Hips
12pm-5pm | Saturday, April 13
This workshop is for those who are looking for insight in addressing discomfort with knee pain and tight hips. This is great information for exploring your movement pattern and learning techniques for everyday that are beneficial on their own or in conjunction for your favorite activities. I HIGHLY encourage those with a passion for running, biking, who work in occupations with a lot of standing or walking. Additionally, this will be very insightful for those with ACL reconstructions or hip replacements.
These techniques were part of my own trial and error conducting my own physical therapy after my ACL reconstruction with a graft taken from my hamstring muscle.
Session II | Yoga for Low Back + Neck
12pm-5pm | Sunday, April 14
This is a huge culprit for so many people: painful low backs. In this session, we will dig deep into the causes of low back pain and how it sets in motion a domino effect of subsequent pain into motion. We will learn more about the connection between low back pain and neck pain and how to start breaking through the pain.
Daily Session Schedule |
12-2pm | Asana Practice - we will go through the sequence to understand and explore the sequence of movements in our own bodies.
2-330pm | Restorative- this 90 minute session will act as an extension of the specific sequence it follows.
330-5pm | Here we bridge body and mind and dissect the sequence. These are sequences that have been reviewed and vetted by a practicing physical therapist. We will learn the purpose of each movement and how the sequence is organized. We will discuss injuries, risks, limitations, adaptive practices and how to pro/regress postures for our purposes.
